Boys Soccer Director / Varsity & Middle School Assistant – Coach John Frey
Coach Frey began his soccer playing days in the dark ages, long before it was even known as soccer. After playing for state championship teams and very competitive club teams in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, he walked on to the UNCC team in 1985. He played three seasons at UNC-Charlotte, finally retiring from the team after repeated knee injuries. The injuries did not impact his passion for the beautiful game as he turned his attention to officiating. He progressed to a national referee in both the USSF and NISOA. Retiring once again he turned his attention to coaching. GCAA is the primary expression of God working through coach Frey to reach young men and allow them to learn the game and the joys of playing it. Coach Frey continues to play, referee and assess at various levels of soccer in the region.
