The Greater Cabarrus Athletic Association (GCAA) is a homeschool Christian athletic organization designed to provide the families in and around the Cabarrus County, North Carolina and surrounding areas the opportunity to play on a competitive sport teams. The goal of our program and all activities that we do is to promote and provide a Christian environment for spiritual and character growth that honors and glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ through competitive athletics.
GCAA Mission Statement
The purpose of the Greater Cabarrus Athletic Association (GCAA) is to provide the home
schooled student athletic opportunities within an environment that is both Christian and
competitive. We desire to nurture the character of the young men and women entrusted to our
program that will allow them to be successful in all future endeavors.
Current Status
Greater Cabarrus Athletic Association is a non-profit, 501(C)3 organization that relies entirely
on the membership of each family and the donations of gracious people outside the GCAA
family. As members of the larger North Carolina Home Educators Athletic Conference
(NCHEAC), GCAA has enjoyed success on both the field and the court in recent years. As an
at-large member of the Mid-State Athletic Conference our teams have joined a Christian athletic
conference to further develop our teams.
Short Term Vision
GCAA desires to improve in all areas of function and to adequately provide the leadership and
direction for each member team; increase awareness of the GCAA program among all home
school groups in the metropolitan area; design and develop a web-site that serves the homeschool
community in regards to the GCAA sports programs.
Mid Term Vision
Develop teams in all major sports within NCHE not currently offered within the GCAA
framework, tennis, golf, etc...; facilitate multiple varsity teams within the metropolitan area of
Charlotte; funding for regional and national tournaments for our teams to compete against other
home school and Christian teams.
Long Term Vision
Facilities / gym space with a long term lease / fields under self-management / PE program
development to encompass multiple opportunities for home schooled students of all ages across
the region. Consistent team travel arrangements such as a team van/bus for away games and
tournaments.
