Welcome to the GCAA Stallions Girls Volleyball Team Site

The Greater Cabarrus Athletic Association (GCAA) is a homeschool Christian athletic organization designed to provide the families in and around the Cabarrus County, North Carolina and surrounding areas the opportunity to play on a competitive sports teams. The goal of our program and all activities that we do is to promote and provide a Christian environment for spiritual and character growth that honors and glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ through competitive athletics.

Goals
The goals of our volleyball teams are to:
1. Provide an environment that fosters growth in each player – as Christians, young ladies, athletes, students and as citizens.
2. Develop a solid foundation of fundamental and technical skills.
3. Provide a place for players and families to grow and increase their volleyball knowledge.
4. Increase the skill level of the players at the middle school and high school level.

We strive to provide a solid foundation of fundamental and technical skills to help participants develop, not only as athletes, but also as individuals. Teaching positive lifelong character traits including sportsmanship, leadership, ethics, etc.

We are committed to providing the best possible environment for our volleyball players to reach their maximum playing potential through excellence in coaching and community support. Our players will be challenged to excel not only for their own personal growth but also for the betterment of their team, the organization, their communities, and the development of area team coaches.

TEAM SELECTION
GCAA Girls Volleyball is comprised of a Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity team. Each team will be comprised of selected players from the region who are willing and able to contribute and subscribe to the rules, philosophies and goals of each team. An average of ten players per team will be chosen based on age, skill level, athletic ability, attitude and ability to understand roles as well as the concept of being a team player. Selections are performed by the coaches during a tryout process that will be announced prior to the season start up. We wish we could allow all girls to join the team but this is just not logistically possible.

OUR SEASON

The fall girls volleyball season is generally from July to November. GCAA competes in multiple conferences including the North Carolina Home Educators Athletic Conference(NCHEAC). Pre-season practices usually start in July with official games commencing in August. Tryouts and team selections are done in June of each year.

PRACTICE SESSIONS AND GAMES

Practice sessions/games are usually held 4 times a week. Both conference and non-conference games are scheduled throughout the region and on various dates within the season. The girls will also have the opportunity to compete in some regional tournaments. A schedule of the practices, games and tourneys a will be published before the season starts.

FEES

As previously mentioned, the team is a non-profit organization and bases its fees on the expected cost of running a successful team volleyball program in a given year. The fee that is paid goes toward covering the following:

* Conference team registration fees * Tournament entry fees * Official fees * Facility rental costs * Training equipment * Administrative costs and supplies * Uniform Costs * Miscellaneous expenses

We strive to keep the cost of playing to a minimum and conduct multiple fund raisers before the season starts to provide the opportunity to reduce the costs associated with running the program as much as possible.

Fees will not be refunded for players who choose to leave before the end of the season. Fees also do not cover the travel, hotel accommodations or food a player may need during a game/tournament. Players and parents often work out carpools to tournaments to reduce costs.
